Unwanted firearms & your best legal options.

When it comes to inheriting or finding items like firearms, its easy to get confused/concerned about your safe and legal options. We offer a a few solutions to this issue to make things as simple as possible. In most cases we offer these services free of charge to help relieve the burden on family members stricken with loss.

Donation

If you have an item(s) that you simply want removed and out of your possession, we can safety check them and remove from your residence providing all the appropriate, legal paperwork. You can specify your preferred intent (E.G. sell then donate funds to my local V.A. or community organization in the name of John Doe, etc.) or we can match them with a collector who will enjoy and care for it for the future. You can donate items to us directly and the proceeds from any sales will be invested into our outreach programs.

Sell on your behalf

We can take possession of an item(s) and sell it for you on consignment, placing it on an auction to get the largest possible return. We can also make a cash offer to purchase directly from you. All legal paperwork will be provided.

Sometimes it is necessary to have an item either deactivated or legally destroyed. There is a significant difference in the process, including specific legal issues, that we can help navigate. Each individual's situation is unique and we would be more than happy to find a solution that best suits your needs.

Whether you are an estate advisor, an heir, or just bought a home and found something in the wall (it happens, trust us) we can remove the burden of dealing with unwanted firearms.

Most police stations will NOT accept firearms for destruction or otherwise. We began offering this service as a safe and legal option for those who find themselves in this position.

In most cases of requested destruction we will offer this service free of charge. Individuals dealing with loss and grief have enough to worry about without navigating legal pitfalls.

Deactivation

Deactivation is a process where the firearm is altered to make it non-functional. This alteration process can be 'semi-permanent' (meaning if the owner or future owner would like to make it functional again, it is possible) or rendered "permanently inoperable"*. In the case of firearms there are many options including chamber soldiering, barrel plugs, etc. and the item is still classified as a legal firearm allowing the individual to keep a piece of family history without worrying about safety concerns.

*Deactivation is not Destruction*

Destruction

Destruction is very specific process of destroying a firearm according to the federal and legal standards as outlined by the ATF. For firearms this includes specific cuts to the "receiver" in order to be classified as "permanently inoperable"*. Paperwork is then submitted to the ATF classifying the firearm as such. Various records can also be provided to original owners for legal coverage as well.

We cover all the bases and follow all local, state and federal guidelines and in most cases we offer this service free of charge as our way of helping individuals in a difficult position.

We can assist in finding the best solution for each situation. Perhaps you'd like to keep grandpa's firearm as a reminder of him but want it to be safe around curious children. Contact us and we can help you through the process. If you have inherited or found something that you absolutely want to be legally destroyed, we can help with that as well.

Always happy to provide free consultations so call or email us if you have any questions. We are always happy to chat.

*The term 'permanently inoperable' is defined by the ATF as "A firearm which is incapable of discharging a shot by means of an explosive and incapable of being readily restored to a firing condition."
